Last update: Thursday 6/22/23
This weekly news guide tracks recent artificial intelligence (AI) tools that will be useful to our readers.
We seem to have come to the end of the initial razzle-dazzle phase of the Large Language Model (LLM) hype cycle. Big Tech admits that current LLMs might make serious errors; might violate copyrights; might infringe on individual privacy; might emit pronouncements that were biased against racial, gender, and other group; might be tricked into violating "good behavior" guidelines; and might emit weird hallucinations. Big Tech further concedes that the current evolution of their LLMs might eventually produce LLMs that pose existential threats to the human race.

Nevertheless Big Tech (and Big Tech Wannabes) continue to deluge the media with full throated announcements about LLM-based upgrades of products and services that will make everyone more productive ... provided their users double, triple, and quadruple check the output of their upgrades ... :-(
Therefore the editor of this blog has changed its focus. From now on its Useful AI news guide will only cover announcements that address the flaws in current LLM technology and efforts to correct these flaws. All other new product announcements will be ignored.

Note:  This news page will be updated every day, but announcements of top stories will be posted on the blog's @neoskeptics Twitter account on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
